American actor and director Justin Baldoni spent his birthday vacationing with his family in Costa Rica, according to local immigration records and celebrity media reports.

Baldoni, best known for his role as Rafael Solano on the CW telenovela "Jane the Virgin" (2014–2019), arrived  with his family on Sunday, Jan. 4. Records from the General Directorate of Migration indicate the family is still vacationing in the country.

Although Baldoni has not shared photos of the trip with his 4.5 million social media followers, international celebrity outlets including TMZ, Page Six and E! Entertainment have published images of him enjoying the tropical getaway with his family.

The American Director, who turned 42 on Saturday, was seen at the beach swimming, surfing and riding an all-terrain vehicle through coastal towns.

He made his acting debut on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" in 2004. In addition to "Jane the Virgin," Baldoni is known for directing and starring in the romantic drama "It Ends With Us" (2024). His directing credits also include "Five Feet Apart" (2019) and "Clouds" (2020), among other films.

Baldoni directed and starred opposite Blake Lively in "It Ends With Us," which was a box-office success. The film’s production drew significant media attention after both actors filed lawsuits related to the project. According to The New York Times, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit in June 2025. Lively’s original complaint is currently scheduled to go to trial in March 2026.

Baldoni is among several international celebrities who have recently visited Costa Rica. American designer and television host David Bromstad recently traveled to the country to film a new episode of HGTV’s My Lottery Dream Home.

Earlier this month, NBA star Michael Jordan made his fourth trip to Costa Rica within a year.

In early January, American actor and producer Channing Tatum and his girlfriend, French-Australian model Inka Williams, also vacationed in the country.

During the Christmas season, American television host and comedian Jimmy Fallon vacationed in the country with his family.

Australian actor, singer and producer Hugh Jackman, best known for portraying Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, also vacationed in Costa Rica during the holiday season.

Tourism continues to be one of Costa Rica’s strongest industries. In 2025, the country welcomed more than 2.6 million tourists arriving by air.

In 2024, the tourism sector generated more than $5.4 billion in foreign exchange earnings.
