Michael
Jordan, the iconic NBA star, has returned
to Costa Rica for the third time this year
to participate in a sportfishing
tournament set to take place at Herradura
Bay in
Puntarenas Province.
The
retired basketball legend arrived on
Tuesday aboard his black-and-white
Gulfstream private jet at Juan Santamaría
International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela
Province,
according to records from the General
Directorate of Migration.
This
marks Jordan’s
third visit to the "Pura
Vida" country
this year. In
January the
61-year-old celebrity traveled two times
in the country (from January
4 to 12 and from 22
to 25) to participate in two fishing
tournaments held at Quepos
Beach,
Puntarenas.
Jordan’s
luxury yacht has been
docked in
Puntarenas since the beginning of the
year.
The six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls played 15 seasons in the league from 1984 to 2003. Widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, he helped popularize the NBA globally in the 1980s and 1990s.
He remains one of
the most marketable athletes in history,
endorsing brands such as Nike,
Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, Gatorade, McDonald's, Wheaties, and
Hanes. Forbes estimates his net worth at
$3.5 billion as of 2024, making him the
fourth-richest African American. Jordan is one of
many celebrities spotted vacationing in
Costa Rica. Last week, Morgan
Freeman, the iconic American actor and
producer, visited Costa Rica for the
second time in less than three months.
