Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris has introduced new nonstop flights between Costa Rica and the United States, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute announced. The new routes connect Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela Province, Costa Rica, with two major U.S. airports in Florida: Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Miami International Airport (MIA). The daily flights, set to begin in July to coincide with the U.S. summer vacation season, will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, which can carry between 150 and 186 passengers per trip. Flights from SJO to MCO will depart at 7:30 a.m. local time, arriving in Orlando at 12:30 p.m. ET. For travelers heading to Costa Rica, flights from MCO to SJO will depart at 2:00 p.m. ET, landing in Alajuela at 3:30 p.m. local time.
Flights
from SJO to MIA will depart at 8:20 a.m.
local time, arriving in Miami at 1:00 p.m.
ET. For those traveling to Costa Rica,
flights from MIA to SJO will depart at
2:30 p.m. ET, landing in Alajuela at 3:20
p.m. local time.

Volaris
is among several airlines expanding
service to the country. Recently,
Alaska Airlines also introduced two new
nonstop routes connecting the U.S. and
Costa Rica.
