American designer and television host David Bromstad recently visited Costa Rica to film a new episode of HGTV’s reality series My Lottery Dream Home.

According to HGTV, the episode, titled “Casa Rica, the Essence of Dreams,” aired Jan. 16 and is available on the network. The episode features Bromstad helping buyers search for a $5 million home in Guanacaste Province.

HGTV’s episode preview notes that the buyers are former housekeepers Tim, Tracey and Jason Kerin, who built a successful cleaning business. The group was looking to purchase a $5 million home located in Hermosa Beach.

During the episode, Bromstad showcases several high-end properties with ocean views. “With one of the biggest budgets ever, David shows some epic homes with stunning water views,” HGTV said in its description.

“We are the owners of the home in Hermosa Beach, Guanacaste, and enjoyed filming with David Bromstad and the crew of My Lottery Dream Home,” Tim Kerin told AM Costa Rica.

Bromstad first gained national recognition as the host of HGTV’s Color Splash, which aired from 2007 to 2012. He later hosted Design Star All-Stars in 2012 and became the primary host of My Lottery Dream Home in 2015.

My Lottery Dream Home is an American HGTV reality series that follows home buyers who have won the lottery or unexpectedly inherited large sums of money.

Bromstad is among several international celebrities who have recently visited Costa Rica. Last week, NBA star Michael Jordan made his fourth trip to the country within a year.

In early January, American actor and producer Channing Tatum and his girlfriend, French-Australian model Inka Williams, also spent time in Costa Rica.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot, known for her role as Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe, rang in the New Year in Costa Rica for the second consecutive year.

Tourism continues to be one of Costa Rica’s strongest industries. In 2025, the country welcomed more than 2.6 million tourists arriving by air.

In 2024, the tourism sector generated more than $5.4 billion in foreign exchange earnings.
