Israeli actress Gal Gadot, best known for her role as Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe, spent the New Year holiday vacationing in Costa Rica for the second consecutive year.

Gadot, 39, was in the country from Dec. 25 through Jan. 2, 2026, according to official records from the General Directorate of Migration.

The actress, who was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2018, shared photos and videos with her more than 106 million followers on Facebook and Instagram. The posts showed her visiting tourist destinations along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.

Her social media posts showcased Costa Rica’s reputation as a world-class tourism destination, with images of beach sunsets, yacht tours, ocean swimming, horseback riding along the shore, hikes through natural landscapes and family celebrations welcoming 2026.

"The sky this evening was painted in the colors of love. The sunset was so moving, as if it knew it was the last one to close the year," the movie star posted on her social media. I wish that 2026 will feel like today’s sunset, full of love, optimism, and goodness. Happy New Year!"

Gadot was born April 30, 1985, in Petah Tikva, Israel. She is globally known for portraying Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman, beginning in 2016. She also gained widespread recognition for her role as Gisele Yashar in the Fast & Furious franchise and has starred in films such as Red Notice and Heart of Stone. Before her acting career, she served in the Israel Defense Forces and won the Miss Israel pageant in 2004.

This marks the second year in a row that Gadot has chosen Costa Rica as a holiday destination. She also spent last year’s holiday season vacationing in the country with her family.

Gadot is among several international celebrities who have recently drawn global attention to Costa Rica as a vacation destination. During the Christmas season, American television host and comedian Jimmy Fallon vacationed in the country with his family.

Australian actor, singer and producer Hugh Jackman, best known for portraying Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, also vacationed in Costa Rica during the holiday season.

In November 2025, American singer, songwriter and actress Demi Lovato, known for her work on Disney Channel and her pop-rock music career, also visited Costa Rica.

Tourism remains one of Costa Rica’s strongest industries. As of September 2025, more than 2.2 million travelers arrived in Costa Rica by air overall.

In 2024, the country welcomed over 2.6 million international air arrivals, a 7% increase from the previous year.

The sector also generated more than $5.4 billion in foreign exchange earnings in 2024.
