Superman Star Tom Welling Enjoys Family Trip to Costa Rica

Tom Welling, the American actor best known for his role as Superman in the television series "Smallville" (2001–2011), recently spent a family vacation in Costa Rica.



Welling, 47, traveled with his wife, Jessica Rose Lee, and their children to the country, enjoying the “Pura Vida” lifestyle from March 27 to April 6. The trip was confirmed by Costa Rica’s General Directorate of Migration.



Throughout the week, Welling and Lee shared a series of photos and videos on social media, delighting fans with snapshots of their tropical getaway. The posts included scenes of horseback riding, seaside diving, breathtaking sunsets, and yacht tours along the coast, among other activities.



“Costa Rica is Pura Vida, baby!” Welling captioned one Instagram post. Lee echoed the sentiment, writing, “Unplugging and celebrating has been the greatest gift of a lifetime. My friends, my family. Te amo, Costa Rica. Pura Vida is my whole personality now.”





Welling’s film credits include Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Fog (2005), Parkland (2013), Draft Day (2014), The Choice (2016), and Mafia Wars (2014), among others. In addition to his film work, he has appeared in numerous television series.



Welling has received five nominations for Best Actor from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films and ten Teen Choice Award nominations in the same category.



Tom Welling is one of many celebrities who have visited Costa Rica recently.  This week, Ivanka Trump, daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump has been spotted with several family members in Guanacaste province.



In March, former NBA player Emanuel "Manu" Ginóbili was in the country to participate in a sports event in Guanacaste.



In February, Michael Jordan the iconic NBA star, returned to Costa Rica for the third time this year to the country.



Tourism is a key sector of Costa Rica's economy. In 2024, the country welcomed over 2.6 million tourists by air, a 7% increase from 2023.



In 2024, Costa Rica achieved $5.4 billion in foreign exchange earnings from the tourism sector, according to data from the Central Bank of Costa Rica.
