The Social Security (CCSS) system has opened a new public health clinic in Guápiles canton, Limón province, expanding access to medical services for thousands of residents.

The new facility, known as Ebais, is located in the Jiménez district and is designed to serve approximately 7,000 people in the area, including legal foreign residents who hold a valid DIMEX identification card, health officials said.

The clinic provides a wide range of services, including general medicine, emergency care, dentistry, nutrition, laboratory testing, pharmacy services, ophthalmology, cardiology, electrocardiography and palliative care.

The building includes patient care areas, waiting rooms, restrooms, laboratories, a pharmacy, reception areas, administrative offices, parking spaces and storage facilities.

Health officials said the Guápiles clinic is part of a broader national strategy to strengthen Costa Rica’s public health infrastructure. As part of that effort, the health authorities recently opened a new public clinic in Carrillo canton, Guanacaste province.

The Social Security Fund, known by its Spanish acronym CCSS, is the state-owned institution responsible for managing the country’s public health system.
