On
Wednesday, the Social Security opened a
new public health clinic in Carrillo
canton,
Guanacaste province, expanding medical
services for thousands of residents.
The
5,800-square-meter facility, located in
the Las Palmas community of the Belén
district, is designed to serve about
50,000 people living in the Carrillo
area, including legal foreign
residents with a valid DIMEX ID, health
officials said.
The clinic offers a broad range of services, including general medicine, emergency care, dentistry, nutrition, laboratory testing, pharmacy, ophthalmology, cardiology, electrocardiography, and palliative care.
The
new building also houses patient care
areas, waiting rooms, restrooms,
laboratories, a pharmacy, reception,
offices, parking, and general service and
storage facilities.
The
project, which cost an estimated $18
million, was financed through a trust
between the Bank of Costa Rica and the
Social Security system.
The
Carrillo clinic is part of a national
strategy to strengthen public health
infrastructure. Earlier this year, health
authorities inaugurated the Monsignor
Víctor Manuel Sanabria Martínez Public
Hospital in Puntarenas province.
