Jeff Bezos, the American billionaire and founder of Amazon, is vacationing in Costa Rica with his wife, Lauren Sánchez.

According to Costa Rica’s General Directorate of Migration, Bezos and Sánchez arrived in the country on Friday, March 27, aboard a private jet at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Guanacaste province.

Bezos’ two yachts, Koru, valued at approximately $500 million, and Abeona, valued at $75 million, are reportedly already in Papagayo Gulf, Guanacaste. Abeona serves as a support vessel for Koru.

Shortly after their arrival, photos and videos of the couple, their private jet in Guanacaste and the yachts sailing along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast circulated widely on social media.

The couple has not posted any details about their trip on their social media accounts.

 

Bezos (62) is one of the most prominent American business figures and is best known as the founder, executive chairman, and former president and CEO of Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce and cloud computing company.

In addition to Amazon, Bezos owns the aerospace company Blue Origin and The Washington Post. He is also known for his personal investments through his venture capital firm, Bezos Expeditions.

According to Forbes, as of December 2025, Bezos has an estimated net worth of about $240 billion, making him the fourth-richest person in the world.

Bezos and Sánchez married in June 2025.

Bezos is among several celebrities who have recently chosen Costa Rica as a vacation destination.  Academy Award-winning actor and producer Morgan Freeman spent several days in the country on his third visit in less than a year.

In January, American actor and director Justin Baldoni celebrated his birthday in Costa Rica with his family.

American designer and television host David Bromstad also traveled to the country to film a new episode of the TV show My Lottery Dream Home.

Earlier in January, NBA star Michael Jordan made his fourth trip to Costa Rica within a year.

Last week, Costa Rica received the Forbes Travel Awards in the Best Nature Destination category, reflecting its reputation as one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.

The country was ranked the happiest in the Americas in the 2026 edition of the World Happiness Report.

Costa Rica welcomed more than 653,000 tourists arriving by air as of February, according to the ICT.

Costa Rica welcomed more than 2.6 million tourists by air in 2025.
