Two prominent
Republican figures, Thomas Massie and
Marjorie Taylor Greene, are spending
time in Costa Rica, according to Brian
Glenn, a journalist and former White
House correspondent. Glenn, who is
engaged to Greene, said on social media that they arrived
in Costa Rica on May 24 for a two-week
trip celebrating Greene's 52nd birthday. In his post, Glenn
wrote: "Summertime. Family. Love. Pura Vida." Multiple media
outlets, including The New York Times,
The Economic Times and ABC News,
reported that Greene picked up Massie
and his family at Daniel Oduber Quirós
International Airport in Guanacaste
before the group began their vacation.
Greene also shared photos and
videos on social media
documenting the beach getaway with
Massie and his wife, Carolyn. According to reports, the
Massies arrived in Costa Rica earlier
this week.
One image posted
by Glenn shows him standing alongside
Greene and the Massie family on a beach. During their stay, the
group spent time fishing and celebrating
Greene's birthday.
"We had a good time
out on the water," Glenn said, adding
that they had some "spicy" conversations
about politics.
Massie
also posted a video on social media
showing him and Greene enjoying a fishing
excursion. On
Friday, Massie shared a farewell message
about his Costa Rica visit, writing: "Took
a great trip to see my good friend
Marjorie Taylor Greene in Costa Rica. We
discussed the future of politics in
America." He
added: "I'm
optimistic that honest and principled
people will follow in our footsteps, so I'm now
headed to Wyoming to speak with Young
Americans for Liberty!"
Massie, an
engineer and member of the Republican
Party, has represented Kentucky's 4th Congressional
District in the U.S. House of
Representatives since 2012. Last week, Massie lost
his Republican House primary, becoming
the latest Republican lawmaker to draw
the ire of President Donald Trump and
subsequently lose to a challenger backed
by the president, according to ABC
News. Greene is an
American politician, businesswoman and Republican Party
member who represented Georgia's 14th
Congressional District in the U.S. House
of Representatives from 2021 until her resignation
in 2026, according to ABC News. Massie and Greene
join a growing list of public figures
who have recently chosen Costa Rica as a
vacation destination. Last week, Canadian
actor Khobe Clarke, best known for
his role as Beau Maxwell in the hit
series "Off Campus," spent a week
vacationing in the country. In early April,
billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife,
Lauren Sánchez, visited Cocos
Island. Tourism remains
one of Costa Rica’s strongest
industries. Data from the Tourism
Institute shows that more than 1
million tourists arrived in Costa
Rica by air during the first quarter
of 2026.
In 2025, the
country welcomed more than 2.6
million tourists arriving by air.
