The Tourism Institute (ICT) has launched a promotional campaign aimed at attracting more British visitors by publishing a feature on Costa Rica in the June edition of National Geographic Traveller UK.

The campaign, titled "Costa Rica: From Coast to Coast," includes an exclusive article encouraging British travelers to explore the Central American destination.

"National Geographic Traveller UK is inviting readers to discover Costa Rica as it renews its commitment to regenerative, responsible tourism," the article states.

The feature, available both in print and on the magazine's website, highlights some of Costa Rica's most popular attractions, including Punta Catedral in Manuel Antonio National Park and Corcovado National Park in Puntarenas Province or Arenal Volcano in Alajuela Province, among others.

"The first tropical country to reverse deforestation, it's long given wildlife lovers cause for celebration,"  the promotional article reads. "Now, local NGOs in the Central American nation are expanding protected areas in Corcovado National Park, one of the most biodiverse places on the planet."

According to the ICT, the paid campaign is expected to reach more than 1.2 million unique digital visitors each month. Additionally, more than 58,000 print copies of the magazine will be distributed throughout the United Kingdom.

Tourism authorities have not disclosed the cost of the advertising effort.

The United Kingdom is Costa Rica's third-largest source of European tourists. ICT statistics show that more than 30,000 visitors from the UK arrived in Costa Rica by air during the first quarter of 2026.

The National Geographic Traveller UK promotion is part of a broader effort to boost international tourism. Recently, Costa Rica launched an advertising campaign during the 2026 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix for the first time in the country's history in an effort to attract more visitors.

Costa Rica’s tourism industry has continued to expand in recent years. The country recorded more than 2.6 million air arrivals in 2025.

In another effort to improve services for travelers, the Juan Santamaría International Airport recently inaugurated a new passenger arrivals area.

The ICT is the government agency responsible for promoting Costa Rica's tourism industry.
