Australian actor and film producer Chris Hemsworth, best known for portraying Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is giving fans a glimpse of his workout routine while vacationing with his family in Costa Rica.

The 42-year-old Hollywood star shared a video with his more than 60 million social media followers, confirming that he is spending about three weeks in the "Pura Vida" nation. The vacation comes ahead of the start of filming for his upcoming movie, "Extraction 3."

While enjoying "a little break" in Costa Rica, Hemsworth told his followers, "I wanted a little workout, so I created a minimal-equipment program that's pretty damn effective, especially when it feels like 150°F outside."

Surrounded by Costa Rica's lush tropical scenery, the video features Hemsworth performing a series of exercises, including banded kettlebell curls, banded reverse flyes, banded kettlebell side bends, banded glute kickbacks, banded hip abductions, banded single-arm flyes, banded pallof halos, banded single-arm rows and banded rotational punches, among many others.

Hemsworth posted the video on Friday. Within hours, it had generated more than 275,000 views and 5,000 comments from fans of the actor who portrays Thor, the Norse god of thunder, storms and strength.

According to Costa Rica's General Directorate of Migration, Hemsworth, his wife, Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky, and their three children arrived in the country on Saturday, July 4, through Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Guanacaste province. As of Friday, July 17, the family remained in Costa Rica.

Fans have shared photos and videos on Facebook and Instagram showing Hemsworth visiting several tourist destinations across Guanacaste, including swimming and surfing with his family at Santa Teresa Beach on the Nicoya Peninsula.

The trip marks Hemsworth's second known visit to Costa Rica. He and Pataky previously spent a week vacationing in Guanacaste in 2014.

Hemsworth began his acting career with television roles in 2002 and has appeared in more than 30 films as of 2026. He rose to international fame after starring in the 2011 Marvel film "Thor" and later reprised the role in several blockbuster sequels.

His success made him one of the world's highest-paid actors. In 2019, Forbes estimated his annual earnings at $76 million, ranking him among the highest-paid actors in the world.

Costa Rica continues to attract high-profile visitors from around the globe, including celebrities and prominent U.S. political figures. Most recently, U.S. Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia vacationed in Guanacaste.

In May, Canadian actor Khobe Clarke, best known for portraying Beau Maxwell in the television series "Off Campus," spent a week vacationing in Costa Rica.

Earlier this April, billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez, visited Cocos Island.

Tourism continues to play a major role in the national economy. Costa Rica welcomed nearly 1.4 million air arrivals between January and May 2026.

The country recorded more than 2.6 million air arrivals in 2025.
