Australian
actor and film producer Chris Hemsworth,
best known for portraying Thor in the
Marvel Cinematic Universe, is giving fans
a glimpse of his workout routine while
vacationing with his family in Costa Rica. The
42-year-old Hollywood star shared a video
with his more than 60 million social media
followers, confirming that he is spending
about three weeks in the "Pura Vida"
nation. The vacation comes ahead of the
start of filming for his upcoming movie,
"Extraction 3."
Surrounded by
Costa Rica's lush tropical scenery, the
video features Hemsworth performing a
series of exercises, including banded
kettlebell curls, banded reverse flyes,
banded kettlebell side bends, banded glute
kickbacks, banded hip abductions, banded
single-arm flyes, banded pallof halos,
banded single-arm rows and banded
rotational punches, among many others. Hemsworth
posted the video on Friday. Within hours,
it had generated more than 275,000 views
and 5,000 comments from fans of the actor
who portrays Thor, the Norse god of
thunder, storms and strength. According
to Costa Rica's General Directorate of
Migration, Hemsworth, his wife, Spanish
model and actress Elsa Pataky, and their
three children arrived in the country on
Saturday, July 4, through Daniel
Oduber Quirós International Airport in
Guanacaste province. As of Friday, July
17, the family remained in Costa Rica.
Fans
have shared photos and videos on Facebook
and Instagram showing Hemsworth visiting
several tourist destinations across
Guanacaste, including swimming and surfing
with his family at Santa Teresa Beach on the
Nicoya Peninsula.
His
success made him one of the world's
highest-paid actors. In 2019, Forbes
estimated his annual earnings at $76
million, ranking him among the
highest-paid actors in the world. Costa
Rica continues to attract high-profile
visitors from around the globe, including
celebrities and prominent U.S. political
figures. Most recently, U.S.
Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and
Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia
vacationed in Guanacaste.
Earlier this April,
billionaire Jeff Bezos and his
wife, Lauren Sánchez, visited
Cocos Island. Tourism continues
to play a major role in the national
economy. Costa Rica welcomed
nearly 1.4 million air arrivals
between January and May 2026.
The country recorded
more than 2.6 million air arrivals
in 2025.
