The Ministry of Health has issued an active recall for
"Begro" brand sweet frozen peas sold in Costa Rica due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can pose serious health risks.

Although no illnesses have been confirmed, Listeria infection can be severe for individuals over 65, pregnant women, young children, and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of listeriosis may include nausea, vomiting, severe headaches, high fever, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.

If you experience symptoms after consuming the recalled frozen peas, seek medical attention at your local clinic or healthcare provider immediately.

All supermarkets and grocery stores selling this brand have been ordered to remove it from their shelves. Customers are advised to dispose of the frozen peas or return them for a refund.

For more information, contact the Ministry of Health at 2223-0333.
