The Ministry of
Health has issued an active recall for "R y H Lácteos" brand cheese sold
in Costa Rica due to potential
contamination with Listeria
monocytogenes, a bacterium that can pose serious
health risks. Although no
illnesses have been confirmed, Listeria infection can be
severe for individuals over 65, pregnant
women, young children, and those with
weakened immune systems. Symptoms of
listeriosis may include nausea,
vomiting, severe headaches, high fever,
stomach cramps, and diarrhea.
If you experience symptoms after consuming the recalled cheese, seek medical attention at your local clinic or healthcare provider immediately.
