Starbucks, the Seattle-based multinational coffeehouse chain, has opened a new location at the Solarium Center near Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Guanacaste.

The new store represents an investment of approximately $800,000 as part of the company’s ongoing expansion in Costa Rica. Starbucks plans to open two additional cafés in the coming months: one in  Plaza Langosta, in Langosta Beach, and another in  Santa Rosa Plaza in Liberia.

As part of its expansion, Starbucks will hire around 50 local employees to fill roles such as managers, supervisors, and baristas.

The Liberia location is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and includes a drive-thru option for added convenience. Its menu features a variety of offerings, including coffee beverages, teas, smoothies, baked goods and sandwiches.

“Guanacaste offers ideal conditions to host a Starbucks store, with a steady flow of both residents and visitors, said María José Gutiérrez, Marketing Manager for Starbucks Costa Rica. For us, it’s an important step in continuing to bring our brand, experience, and values to more Costa Ricans across different regions of the country.”

With this new store, Starbucks now operates 30 locations throughout Costa Rica and employs more than 400 partners nationwide.

In February, the company announced it would invest approximately $11 million in its Costa Rican expansion plan.

The coffee shop chain was founded in 1971 and currently operates 40,000 stores in 87 countries, generating $36 billion in annual revenue.

Starbucks is among several U.S.-based companies actively investing in Costa Rica.
Recently, Dunkin’, the American coffee and donut chain, revealed a $5 million investment to open new locations across the country.
