Dunkin', the American and
internationally recognized coffee and
donut chain, has announced a $5 million
investment to open new locations across
Costa Rica. The
Massachusetts-based company currently
operates coffee shops in La Valencia
(Heredia), Tres Ríos (Cartago), as well
as in the San José cantons of Santa Ana,
Escazú, San José, Curridabat and San
Pedro. According to AR
Holdings, the franchise owner, the
expansion plan includes eight new
locations in the San José districts of
Sabana, Lindora, and Moravia, in
addition to in the provinces of Heredia
and Alajuela. The expansion is
expected to generate 100 jobs and
contribute to local economic growth,
said Miguel Ramírez, director of
operations for AR Holdings.
Customers at the
new locations will be able to enjoy a
variety of donuts, muffins, bagels, and
croissants, along with hot coffee, iced
coffee, and frozen beverages in flavors
such as grape, pineapple, strawberry,
vanilla, and cotton candy, the firm said
in its statement. Dunkin', the world’s largest bakery
and coffee company, serves over three
million customers daily and operates
nearly 13,000 locations in 42 countries. The first Dunkin’ coffee shop in Costa
Rica opened in July 2024 in Heredia
Province. Dunkin’ is one of several
international food brands investing in
Costa Rica. Recently, Kentucky
Fried Chicken (KFC) announced an $8
million investment to expand its
presence in the country.
