Starbucks
Corp. has partnered with Delta Air Lines to
launch the “In-Air Coffeehouse,” a unique
travel experience that will take SkyMiles
members on exclusive tours of the coffee
giant’s Costa Rican farm.
From
December 16–18, the experience will
transport travelers from Atlanta to Costa
Rica on an immersive flight that transforms
the cabin into a coffeehouse at 30,000 feet.
Passengers will visit Hacienda
Alsacia,
Starbucks’ coffee farm located in Costa
Rica’s Alajuela Province.
According
to Starbucks, the In-Air Coffeehouse will
depart from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta
International Airport (ATL) at 11 a.m. ET on
Dec. 16 and arrive at Juan Santamaría
International Airport (SJO) in the
afternoon.
Passengers will board a chartered aircraft designed to blend hospitality and coffee culture. During the flight, guests will take part in interactive experiences, including a guided coffee tasting hosted by Starbucks baristas, all curated to highlight the brand’s heritage and focus on safety.
Once
in Costa Rica, travelers will stay at
accommodations on the coffee farm and spend
a full day exploring Hacienda Alsacia’s
operations on the slopes of Poás Volcano.
Starbucks
currently operates 30 coffee shops in Costa
Rica. The
company recently opened a new location
at Solarium Center near Daniel Oduber
Quirós International Airport in Liberia,
Guanacaste.
Founded
in 1971, the Seattle-based coffee chain now
operates about 40,000 stores in 87 countries
and generates roughly $36 billion in annual
revenue. Tourism
remains one of Costa Rica’s strongest
industries. More
than 2.2 million travelers arrived in
Costa Rica by air between January and
September, according to the Institute of
Tourism (ICT).
The
sector also generated more than $5.4
billion in foreign exchange earnings in
2024.
The
ICT is the government agency in charge of
promoting the country’s tourism industry.
