measures to the suspect of throwing a pet
from almost
30 meters high By A.M. Costa Rica staff On Wednesday, agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization, OIJ, arrested a man surnamed Saborio-Soto, 29, on suspicion of killing a cat by throwing him from the balcony of an apartment that is located in a tower 27.98 meters-height. Allegedly the cat owner was the suspect’s ex-girlfriend. According to the agents' report, the case began when a video on social networks showed a man throwing the pet from the balcony of an apartment tower, which caused the death of the animal. None of the residents in the apartments claimed the animal, so the people who found the cat decided to bury him on one of the trails surrounding the apartment complex. Forensic veterinarians from Veritas University, together with specialists from other organizations, visited the site of the event and the place where the cat was buried. The doctors removed the remains of the feline and after the inspection of the animal, there is evidence that shows that "he was thrown from a height of approximately 27.98 meters after he fell into a bush, the cat instinctively got up of survival and he went towards the parking lot of the basement number two of that apartment tower, he walked at least 30 meters away and finally arrived at the dog park where the people found him and helped him, however, the cat died at the scene." According to the agents' report, the specialists established that the cat suffered severe hip and jaw fractures, severe pulmonary contusions and severe bleeding. The man was taken to the cells of the Public Ministry where he was interrogated by the judicial agents and after that, a judge orders pre-trial measures against him such as prohibition of leaving the country, and meet a monthly appointment control at the Ministry. -------------------------------- Have you heard of cases of animal abuse in your community?
