On Tuesday in San José Province, members of the National Rescue Movement organization, led by two former deputies, José Miguel Corrales and Célimo Guido, protested against the measures imposed by the government due to the state of national emergency due to the pandemic.

The march began at 9 a.m. from San José downtown in Central Park, through Second Avenue to reach the Congress. The march continued to the Presidential House in Zapote District, where the leaders delivered their list of petitions.

According to former deputy Corrales, the peaceful march has the goal of improving the production sector and the laws in the country.

Addressing President Carlos Alvarado, leaders requested the following:

- Increasing Social Security.

- A decree that orders banks and other financial organizations to give an extension of a two-year delayed period in the payment of all credits, retroactively beginning March 22, 2020, the day when the national emergency covid-19 was declared, until 2022.

- Reopening of the tourism and commerce sector. In other words, the lifting of all restrictions.

- Replace all restrictions by a mandatory commitment of citizens to follow the health guidelines ordered by the Ministry of Health, to avoid the spread of covid-19.

- Invest more in the police, which allows promoting Costa Rica internationally as a safe country destination.

- Discontinue with payments of the so-called luxury pensions from the capital of the national budget.

- Eliminate the positions of presidents and advisers in public institutions.

According to the organization, they are supported by representatives of various productive sectors of the country such as fishery, agriculture, transportation, tourism, entrepreneurs, bars and restaurants, among others.

The government is expected to provide a public response to the organization's demands.
