This weekend, the television series "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus and Canadian pop sensation singer Shawn Mendes visited Costa Rica to celebrate the New Year 2024.

On Saturday, Norman Reedus and his girlfriend, German actress Diane Kruger, revealed that they celebrated New Year's Eve in Costa Rica.

Kruger announced on her Instagram that they had arrived in the Pura Vida country with a post saying "Happy Holidays from our bonkers family to yours," she posted. "What better way to start the year... clear headed with my loves going on an adventure."

Kruger's postings included a Costa Rican flag emoji and a photo of the horror drama series star actor swimming with his daughter in a natural waterfall.

This is the actor's and his family's second trip to Costa Rica this year. In March, the Reedus family was spotted enjoying the beaches of Guanacaste.

Reedus made his acting entrance in the 1990s, appearing in the box office hits 8MM, Blade 2, and American Gangster.

He has appeared in the television shows Law & Order and Hawaii Five-O, as well as in video games, voicing the protagonist character Sam Porter in the video game Death Stranding.

Reedus gained notoriety as Daryl Dixon in the smash television series "The Walking Dead" (2010-2022). In 2023, he began appearing in his own spin-off series, "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon," as one of the show's most popular characters. Reedus (2016-present) is the host of the AMC program "Ride with Norman Reedus."

In the case of Canadian musician Shawn Mendes, he posted photographs and videos of his vacation to the beaches of Guiones and Nosara in Guanacaste Province on his Instagram on Sunday.

"Pura Vida!!!! Happy New Year!! I'm so looking forward to this year! grateful grateful grateful," posted the "Stitches" hit singer.

The photos show the pop singer surfing and surrounding Nosara Beach in an all-terrain vehicle.

The artist is returning to Costa Rica for the second time. In 2001, Mendes uploaded numerous images during a trip to Guanacaste.

Shawn Mendes rose to prominence in 2013 by posting song covers on the video-sharing app Vine. The next year, he caught the interest of artist manager Andrew Gertler and Island Records A&R Ziggy Chareton, which led to him getting a record deal with the company.

Mendes released his self-titled first EP in 2014, followed by his debut studio album "Handwritten" in 2015. Handwritten premiered at number one on the US Billboard 200, making Mendes one of just five artists to do it before the age of 18. The single "Stitches" peaked at number one in the United Kingdom and entered the top ten in the United States and Canada.

Mendes' second album, "Illuminate" (2016), debuted at number one in the United States as well, with the songs "Treat You Better" and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" hitting the top ten in many countries.

The lead track "In My Blood" from his self-titled third studio album was released in 2018. With the album's number-one debut in the United States, Mendes became the third-youngest artist to have three number-one albums.

In 2019, he recorded the successful songs "If I Can't Have You" and "Senorita," which peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

"Wonder" (2020), his fourth studio album earned him the youngest male artist ever to top the Billboard 200 with four studio albums.

Norman Reedus and Shawn Mendes are some of the many celebrities who have visited Costa Rica recently. A couple of weeks ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were on holiday in Guanacaste.

In November, Rick Harrison, owner of the world-famous Las Vegas pawn business Gold & Silver Pawn, visited the country for his "History Fest" Central American tour.

Also, Kevin Costner, a well-known American actor chose Costa Rica as his vacation destination.

More celebrities, such as Colombian singer Shakira, German professional goalkeeper Manuel Peter Neuer and American actor Kevin Hart have recently vacationed in the Pura Vida country.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. As of Sept., there were over 1.8 million tourists.

Last year, about 2.3 million tourists visited the country. That is one million more visitors than in 2021.
