According
to a Concacaf recap, Costa Rica struck first
in the 12th minute when Francisco Calvo
converted a penalty to give "Ticos" the
early lead.
The
U.S. had a chance to equalize in the 37th
minute, but Malik Tillman’s penalty attempt
hit the left post. Max Arfsten followed up
with a rebound shot, which was denied by
Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Diego
Luna leveled the score in the 43rd minute
with a left-footed strike from the center of
the box.
The U.S. pulled ahead early in the second half as Arfsten found the net in the 47th minute with a right-footed shot from the left side of the box, finishing a setup from Tillman.
