NBA legend Michael Jordan, 61, is enjoying a vacation trip in Costa Rica.

The retired basketball star arrived Monday on his black-and-white Gulfstream private jet at the Juan Santamarķa International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela Province, according to official records from the General Directorate of Migration.

Fans shared sightings of Jordan on social media, including photos of him dining at a marina in
Herradura Bay, in Puntarenas Province. His yacht reportedly docked there last week.

Jordan, a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls, played 15 seasons in the league from 1984 to 2003. Widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, he helped popularize the NBA globally in the 1980s and 1990s.

He remains one of the most marketable athletes in history, endorsing brands such as Nike, Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, Gatorade, McDonald's, Wheaties, and Hanes. Forbes estimates his net worth at $3.5 billion as of 2024, making him the fourth-richest African American.

Jordan is the latest in a series of celebrities spotted vacationing in Costa Rica. Last week, Israeli actress Gal Gadot, best known for playing Wonder Woman, and Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen also visited the "Pura Vida" country.

In December, Canadian singer Justin Bieber, his wife and model Hailey Bieber, and influencer Kendall Jenner shared photos of their Costa Rica vacations on social media.

Tourism is a key sector of Costa Rica's economy. As of July 2024, more than 1.7 million tourists arrived by air, a 13.5% increase from the same period in 2023.

The country set a new tourism record in 2023, welcoming more than 2.4 million visitors.
