Scottish actor William "Billy" Nathan Boyd (56), and British-Irish actor Dominic "Dom" Monaghan (47), are visiting Costa Rica.

Boyd and Monaghan are best known for their performances as Peregrin "Pippin" Took and Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in Peter Jackson's epic film trilogy The Lord of the Rings (2001–2003).

According to public records from the General Directorate of Migration, both actors entered the country on Thursday, November 7.

Billy and Dom fans in Costa Rica shared photos on social media of the two actors enjoying their visits to several tourist locations in the Pura Vida country, including Nicoya Canton in Guanacaste Province and Central Avenue in downtown San José, to name a few.

Both actors are currently filming a new program called "Billy and Dom Eat the World," a cuisine and travel series produced by British production firm Dash Pictures.

According to the film company, in the series both actors and real-life best friends "have now traveled the globe on a string of exciting adventures discovering fascinating food and quirky secrets in six very different and special locations."

They launched a podcast called "The Friendship Onion" in 2021, which is available on their YouTube channel.

Boyd and Monaghan are some of many celebrities who have vacationed in Costa Rica.  Recently, Victor "Wemby" Wembanyama, a French professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA) spent his vacations in the Pura Vida country.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. As of July, over 1.7 million tourists arrived via air, representing a 13.5% increase over the same period in 2023.

The country reported a new tourism record reached in 2023, with more than 2,4 million travelers.
