Costa Rica is making an effort to attract more Canadian visitors with an advertisement campaign that is being displayed at Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario.

According to the Tourism Institute, the campaign to attract more Canadian tourists is part of the "Take Your Seat Exhibition, which features large-size photos of tourist spots in Costa Rica and 30 other countries.

The photographs in large format and high resolution depict tourist destinations such as the Monteverde forest, San José City, and the thermal springs of La Fortuna in San Carlos, among others.

According to officials, the photos are shown in the board zones that correlate to two of the airport's busiest areas.

The campaign's goal is to inspire the six million tourists who pass through the airport each year to visit Costa Rica.

According to the institute's figures, almost 240,000 Canadian tourists visited Costa Rica last year, making Canada the country with the second-highest number of visitors. The country reported a new tourism record reached in 2023, with more than 2,4 million travelers.

The institute has launched many international advertising campaigns encouraging visitors to Costa Rica. Recently, the authorities were promoting the country as a tourist destination in Austin, Texas, U.S.A.
