The Tourism Institute is promoting Costa Rica as a tourist destination at the South by Southwest Fest SXSW 2024, held in Austin, Texas, U.S.A.

SXSW is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March generally coinciding with the University of Texas at Austin spring break.

The fair attracts over 300,000 people each spring. The institute featured a kiosk and several amenities where festival attendees had the chance to learn more about Costa Rica's tourism activities.

Costa Rica records show that in 2023, more than 1.4 million U.S. tourists visited the country by air.

The institute has launched many international advertising campaigns encouraging visitors to Costa Rica. Last week, that state-owned organization was promoting the country as a tourist destination at the Vitrina Turística International Tourism Fair, held in Colombia.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. As of January, more than 270,000 tourists arrived in the country by air, authorities stated.

In 2023, the country reached a new tourism record with more than 2,4 million travelers visiting the country by air.
