Costa Rica's Tourism Institute is promoting the country as a tourist destination at the Vitrina Turística International Tourism Fair, held in Bogotá, Colombia.
According to the institute, the fair is one of the most important commercial events in the tourist sector in Colombia and South America, attracting nearly 1,200 firms from 20 countries.
The institute featured a kiosk where representatives from Costa Rican tourism companies were forming alliances and recruiting Spanish visitors.
"This fair helps Costa Rica be present in the minds of potential Latin American tourists," said the institute in its statement.
Costa Rica records show that in 2023, more than 28,000 Colombian tourists visited the country by air.
Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. As of January, more than 270,000 tourists were visiting the country by air, authorities stated.
In 2022, about 2.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica, which represents one million more visitors than in 2021.
