MWS Wire
Industries, a Chatsworth,
California-based company that
manufactures and processes specialty
wire products for the medical device
industry, plans to open its first
facility in Costa Rica at Activa Free Zone
& Industrial Park in Grecia Canton,
Alajuela Province.
According to the company, the new facility
will focus on manufacturing and
processing specialty wire products for
the medical device industry, with an emphasis
on serving medical device manufacturers
in Costa Rica through tailored wire
solutions, technical support and
value-added services.
“Costa Rica has become an important center for medical device innovation and manufacturing, and we are excited to establish a local presence that allows us to better serve customers in the region,” said Benjamin Konrad, president of MWS Wire Industries.

“By
being closer to our customers, we can
support critical engineering decisions
earlier, respond faster to technical
requirements, and provide tailored
specialty wire products that meet the high
expectations of the medical device
industry,” he said.
The new facility is expected to begin operations in 2027. MWS
Wire Industries’
investment adds to the growing number of
U.S. companies expanding their presence in
Costa Rica. Recently, Newmont, a
Denver-based U.S. company, opened its
Global Delivery Center in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica received
more than $5 billion in FDI in 2025.
