Former Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla-Miranda attended as a special guest at a monthly meeting of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce held at The Breakers Palm Beach Resort in Palm Beach, in the U.S. State of Florida.

The event was moderated by Chamber President and CEO Doug Evans and Chamber member Tina Thomson.

Chinchilla’s remarks and interview covered a range of topics, including international trade, democracy in the region, and the strength, resilience and influence of women in leadership worldwide.

“We were honored to host a powerful conversation with President Laura Chinchilla, whose global perspective and leadership insights left a lasting impact on everyone in the room,” the chamber said in a statement.

Chinchilla served as Costa Rica’s first woman president from 2010 to 2014. She was the candidate of the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) in the 2010 general election, winning 46.76% of the vote. In 2022, she resigned from the party.

After leaving office, Chinchilla became president of the advisory council of SheWorks!, a company focused on women’s empowerment.

She also served as a professor at the Georgetown University Institute of Politics and Public Service in Washington.
