A Costa Rican folk music band from
the province of Heredia will
represent the country at London’s New Year’s Day Parade on Thursday, Jan. 1,
2026.
The London New Year’s Day Parade attracts more than 1
million spectators each year. The
event is broadcast live by more than
250 television networks worldwide,
reaching millions of viewers.
The Costa Rican
ensemble is made up of six musicians who
perform traditional Costa Rican folk
music. They will be joined by folk
dancers from the Costa Rican cultural
committee in London, adding a visual
element to the country’s presentation. Viewers interested
in watching the Costa Rican performance
can follow the live stream on
the London New Year’s Day Parade website beginning at noon
GMT (6 a.m. Costa Rican time). This will be the third
time a Costa Rican community folk
ensemble has participated in the London
parade. This year, Costa
Rica was represented by the Fortuna
District Community Marching Band
from San Carlos canton in Alajuela
province. In 2021, the
Orotina Community Marching Band, also
from Alajuela province, performed at the
same New Year’s Day celebration.
