This week, the Tourism Institute is promoting the country as an idyllic tourism destination, in Sao Pablo, Brazil.

According to the organization, Brazilian tourists may enjoy a wide range of ways to interact with Costa Rica's nature.

The tourism strategy is also in collaboration with the Rio de Janeiro-based airline GOL, which will shortly begin operations in Costa Rica.

Representatives from the institute are meeting with over 150 Brazilian travel agents and tour operators, providing general information about the country, tourism attractions, and amenities.

More than 84,000 tourists from South America arrived from January to August, with over 13,000 coming from Brazil, authorities added.

The Brazilian airline, GOL, will launch the first nonstop flights between Brazil and Costa Rica beginning in November.

As part of the country's strategy to boost tourism, Costa Rica participated recently in the IFTM Tourism Fair that took place in Paris, France.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. So far this year, over 1.7 million tourists arrived in the country via air, representing a 13.5% increase over the same period in 2023.

The country reported a new tourism record reached in 2023, with more than 2,4 million travelers.

The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT), or Tourism Institute, is the government agency responsible for promoting tourism in Costa Rica.
