Members
of the legendary hard rock band Guns N’
Roses touched down in Costa Rica on
Sunday, arriving on two private flights at
the
Juan Santamaría International Airport
(SJO) in
Alajuela.
Lead
singer Axl Rose was the first to arrive
Sunday afternoon, spotted by fans leaving
the airport while holding a can of iconic
Costa Rican Imperial beer.
Hours later, the rest of the group
followed, including lead guitarist Slash
(Saul Hudson), bassist Duff McKagan,
keyboardist Dizzy Reed, rhythm guitarist
Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, and
keyboardist Melissa Reese.
Costa
Rica has been chosen as the opening stop
of the band’s new tour, titled “The
Because What You Want & What You Get
Are Two Completely Different Things.”
Fans
can expect a high-energy show packed with
classics like “Welcome to the Jungle”
(1987), “Sweet Child o’ Mine” (1987),
“Paradise City” (1987), “Patience” (1988),
and “November Rain” (1991).
The stadium gates open at 3 p.m. Fans should note that re-entry will not be allowed once inside. Local rock bands Akasha, Gentry, and Slavon will kick off the evening at 5 p.m., followed by Guns N’ Roses, who are set to take the stage at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are still available through the Kuikpei website, with prices ranging from $75 to $370 depending on seating.
Organizers
have shared key reminders for
concertgoers:
Guns
N’ Roses remains one of the most
influential bands in American rock
history. Their 1987 debut, Appetite for
Destruction, is the best-selling debut
album in U.S. history and the 11th
best-selling overall. Their 2016–2019 Not
In This Lifetime Tour ranks as the
fourth-highest-grossing concert tour of
all time.
The
group’s discography also includes the twin
blockbusters Use Your Illusion I and Use
Your Illusion II (both 7x Platinum,
debuting at No. 1 and No. 2 on the
Billboard 200 in 1991), along with G N’ R
Lies (5x Platinum), The Spaghetti
Incident? (Platinum), Greatest Hits (5x
Platinum) and Chinese Democracy
(Platinum).
Globally,
the band has sold more than 100 million
records and continues to attract new
generations of fans. With more than 24
million monthly listeners on Spotify, Guns
N’ Roses ranks among the most-streamed
rock bands in the world.
Decades
after their debut, the “Nightrain” keeps
rolling, and GN'R shows no signs of
slowing down.
