The Ministry of Health has issued an urgent recall of weight-loss medications sold under the Exogenics brand. The recalled products include injectable drugs such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, cagrilintide and liraglutide, among others.

Officials said these medications are primarily prescribed for treating type 2 diabetes and, in some cases, as supplements for managing overweight and obesity.

Health authorities warned that the drugs should only be prescribed by a licensed medical professional after an individual evaluation. Using them without medical supervision can cause serious side effects and put patients’ health at risk.

According to the ministry, these medications are being offered and sold on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X, among others, by unauthorized individuals. In some cases, they are even being administered by people who are not qualified healthcare professionals.

Officials also noted that many of these medications require a controlled cold chain to maintain their effectiveness and quality. From importation and storage to distribution, they must be kept under proper temperature conditions. All injectable drugs must be stored and handled according to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure their safety and efficacy.
