The Journal de Montreal, a daily newspaper based in Quebec, Canada, points out the Costa Rican Caribbean Coast as a vacation destination.

In the article, "The Other Costa Rica: adventure on the Magnificent Caribbean Coast," the journal states that the Limón Province Coast is one of the locations with more natural beauty but less visited by visitors.

"Costa Rica is synonymous with volcanoes, waterfalls, crowded beaches, or a paradise for surfers. But some regions have few explored," according to the article.

The Caribbean Coast's principal attractions are Caribbean culture, reggae music, lush scenery and stunning wildlife. It also offers the advantage of avoiding the problem of massive tourist crowds, which occur on the Pacific Coast.

The journal recommends readers to visit Tortuguero National ParkCahuita National Park and Puerto Viejo Beach

One of these places, Tortuguero National Park, is situated northeast of Limón Province. Its area is around 76,000 hectares. Of these, 50,000 are marine, whereas 26,000 are terrestrial.

Park access is only feasible by small boats, as the area is remote and has a vast network of rivers and canals.

The park preserves nesting beaches for four sea turtle species: Green (Chelonia mydas), Baula (leatherback, Dermochelys coriacea), Carey (hawksbill, Eretmochelys imbricata), and Cabezona (loggerhead, Caretta caretta).

The zone also safeguards the habitat of the manatee (Manati, Trichechus manatus), one of Costa Rica's rarest and most endangered creatures.

According to the National System of Conservation Areas, which manages all of the country's wild regions and national parks, Tortuguero Rangers documented over 700 plant species, more than 400 bird species, and around 130 animal species.

In these three destinations, Tortuguero National Park, Cahuita National Park and Puerto Viejo Beach, tourists may appreciate the splendor of tropical forests while also engaging in outdoor activities such as visiting villas, testing Caribbean cuisine, boating in canals, and relaxing on clean, quiet beaches, according to the journal.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. Recently, the Tourism Institute reported a new tourism record reached in 2023, with more than 2,4 million travelers visiting the country by air.

In 2022, about 2.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica. That is one million more visitors than in 2021.
