Red Cross begins
a donation campaign
By the A.M. Costa Rica staff
“Ayuda Desde Casa,” or “Help from Home” in English, is
the fundraising donation campaign that the Red Cross
developed to help meet the organization's expenses
during the pandemic.
“The donation campaign helps from home benefits the
Costa Rican Red Cross directly. In addition, we seek
to strengthen the capabilities of the organization,"
said Karla Henry-Vargas, representative of the Red
Cross. "We are a private institution and we deal with
a series of expenses to continue providing national
coverage and thus be able to fulfill all our
operations.”
The Costa Rican Red Cross obtains most of its income
through donations and the sale of first aid kits,
medical equipment, first aid training, among others.
During the pandemic, they have been forced to stop
activities to generate income, which is why they have
created this campaign to raise funds. This campaign is
already active and will continue until July.
People can donate without leaving their homes, through
the platform titled "Yo Me Uno", which could mean "I'm
Part Of It", which was developed by BAC Credomatic to
help the Red Cross.
People with Credomatic credit cards can make the
donation through the bank's platform or online.
People who do not have Credomatic credit cards but
want to help the Red Cross can do so through the
organization's official online store Tienda Cruz Roja, where
the bank account information is displayed. The website
also offers the option to purchase donation coupons
between $1 to $18. People can also help by buying the
first aid kits and medical supplies that are on sale
there.
"Help us, so we can continue helping people," said
Henry-Vargas.
The Red Cross warns the public that it does not have
staff making phone calls to ask for donations or bank
information. Be aware of scams.
For more information on how to make a donation, call
the Red Cross line +506 2542-5000.
