Costa Rica has imported 4,839,345 vaccines against covid-19, according to the National Emergency Commission. The most recent shipment containing 243,360 doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived on a DHL cargo last night at the Juan Santamaría International Airport. These are part of the 6,001,125 Pfizer vaccines purchased to inoculate more than 3 million people. Last month, the country imported 163,200 doses of AstraZeneca as part of the purchased 1,000,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses for the treatment of more than 500,000 people. An additional 172,950 doses have been imported as part of the purchased 2,037,600 vaccines through the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access, COVAX system, of the World Health Organization. The purchase includes WHO-approved vaccines, such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna. This purchase was made to provide treatment to more than one million people. According to the authorities, from July 16 to 25, the 503,100 doses donated by the United States government were applied. The total vaccines purchased and donated are about 9,541,825 to protect more than 4.7 million people living in Costa Rica. ![]() Last week. President Carlos Alvarado announced the 69,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines that will be donated by Spain to inoculate approximately 38,800 people. The treatment will be sent to the country through the COVAX mechanism, which is the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access of the World Health Organization. The date on which this donation will arrive has not been informed yet. There are 80,060 active covid-19 cases in the country. Of the total 438,587 cases detected since last year.
