The United States government, via its consulate, donated $25,000 in new desks and kitchen appliances to the Francisco Alfaro-Rojas public school located in La Arena District, Grecia Canton in Alajuela Province.

The Embassy's Office of Defense Representative Humanitarian Assistance Program provided 130 desks and chairs.

They also donated a paper shredder and kitchen appliances, including a grease extractor, integrated kitchen equipment with a griddle, an electric self-service station, a food shelf, a two-door vertical refrigeration chamber, a one-door freezer and five folding tables.

"It matters for the United States Embassy to support Costa Rican children in better preparing for their professional future," said Juan Carlos Ávila, Commander of the Office of the Defense Representative.

Recently, three public schools in Puntarenas and Guanacaste received donations from the U.S. totaling roughly $48,000.
