Traffic
will be disrupted due to the
construction of the Route 32 highway
expansion, which connects the provinces
of San José and Cartago. According
to the Ministry of Public
Transportation, a 400-meter segment on
the road in the La Galera
District in
Curridabat Canton, San José Province,
was closed on Tuesday. To complete
the work, it was necessary to close this
section of the highway to traffic for 12
consecutive hours, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A viaduct is being built in the area to improve traffic flow on the Florencio del Castillo Highway Route 32. The project is estimated to be officially completed in June 2024.
Authorities are calling on drivers to avoid crossing through La Galera District. Instead, use alternative routes to cross to Cartago Province. For drivers who travel through the construction zone, there will be traffic officers regulating the passage of vehicles.
The new Galera highway construction is a result of road improvement initiatives. This week, authorities announced the construction of a new bridge in Alajuela Province.
