The construction of a new bridge over the Valverde River in Route 717 in Tacares District, Grecia Canton in Alajuela Province may result in traffic congestion, according to the Ministry of Public Transport.

To finish the renovation, the bridge's access must be closed to traffic until Dec. 15.

Authorities are calling on drivers to avoid crossing through the Tacares bridge. Instead, use alternative routes in Grecia Canton to cross to Alajuela City.

For drivers who travel through the construction zone, there will be traffic officers regulating the passage of vehicles.

The new bridge construction is a result of road improvement initiatives.  Recently, authorities announced that two new highways being built in Limón Province have advanced by 80%.

Last week, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration approved a loan of $400 million to Costa Rica, to improve the country's road network.
