The satellite internet service provided by the Redmond, Washington, USA-headquartered Starlink is now available in Costa Rica.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by the Elon Musk aerospace company SpaceX. The firm is providing satellite internet access and mobile phone service coverage to over 60 countries.  

Satellite internet is provided in three bundles: houses, cell phones and boats.

The Starlink home package, including hardware, costs ₡109,500 colones per month (about $200). Unlimited high-speed internet for ₡33,000 colones per month (about $62).

 

The same $200 monthly fee for Starlink data roaming to mobile device data service, including hardware. In this scenario, internet on-demand with unlimited high-speed internet for ₡41,000 colones per month (about $77).

The Starlink for boats, which provides high-speed internet on the water, costs ₡1.5 million colones (about $2,900) per month, including hardware. The only price for high-speed internet access is ₡153,000 colones (about $290).

Business magnate Elon Musk is the founder, CEO and chief engineer of companies such as SpaceX, Starlink, Angel Investor, Tesla, and Twitter, among others. Musk is the second-wealthiest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The source primarily focuses on his ownership stakes in Tesla and SpaceX, with an estimated net worth of around $167 billion.

Starlink is one of many international firms investing in Costa Rica. This week, the U.S.-based Life Sciences announced the expansion of its branch (CRX Life Sciences) in Alajuela Province.
