The Electricity Institute (ICE) provides electricity service for the first time to Chocolata town, located in Liberia Canton, Guanacaste Province.

The infrastructure required 1.7 kilometers of electrical wires, 20 concrete poles and four electric power transformers to provide power in 26 houses.

The project was budgeted more than $140,000 which was covered by the institute.

According to the Public Services Regulatory Authority, (Aresep), Costa Rica's power grid covers 99.5% of the national territory.

The facility of electricity in this town is one of the most recent infrastructure improvements in rural zones. Recently, the institute installed broadband fiber optic internet access with speeds greater than 100 megabytes in Venado Island, located in the Nicoya Peninsula.
