In the Katira District of Guatuso Canton, Alajuela Province, a new drinking water storage tank was built.

According to the Public Water and Sewer Institute Institute (AyA), the overall cost of this project was more than $800,000, which was funded by the Rural Development Institute's budget.

The massive 500 cubic meter tank, managed by Buena Vista Drinking Water Associations, will supply water to around 10,000 people in the Guatuso towns.

The water improvement project will ensure drinking water for the next 20 years, authorities said.

This is one of more projects that AyA has developed in rural regions to enhance access to drinking water. A new drinking water storage tank was set up just recently in the San Bernardo District of Bagaces Canton, Guanacaste Province.
