The Tourism Institute agrees with world-renowned Canadian company Cirque du Soleil as the official tourism partner of their newest ECHO's U.S. tour.

According to the institute, the agreement celebrates Cirque du Soleil's 20th traveling big top show ECHO, whose story explores the artful balance of nature and animals and emphasizes people's influence in creating a better future and world.

"The production's narrative aligns with Costa Rica's 'Pura Vida' way of life," said the institute in its statement. "Costa Rica boasts a profound connection to nature and sustainability as a destination that houses an estimated six percent of the world's biodiversity and has over a quarter of its land covered by natural protected environments."

The institute campaign will be developed at ECHO in two locations. In Atlanta's Atlantic Station from November 5, 2023, to January 21, 2024. And later in Miami's Gulfstream Park from February 22 to April 7, 2024.

As part of the campaign, show attendees will have the opportunity to win a trip to Costa Rica to experience 'Pura Vida' for themselves.

Cirque du Soleil's content production team traveled through various regions of Costa Rica to film a bonus episode of their Cirque RAW series, "Pura Vida."

"The mesmerizing content showcases Cirque du Soleil talent, in the raw, in Costa Rica and captures the destination's true essence and breathtaking landscapes," added the institute.

"ECHO's message of connectivity, human and animal relationships and nature organically aligns with the essence of Costa Rica," said Lauren Hart, Head of Partnership Strategy at Cirque du Soleil. "This partnership beautifully blends Cirque du Soleil's art with Costa Rica's landscape."

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group produces world-renowned circus arts shows. Since its creation in 1984, more than 378 million people have watched the show on 6 continents and 86 countries. The company now employs over 4,000 employees, including 1,200 artists from 80 different nationalities.

The Cirque du Soleil agreement is one of many Costa Rica's strategies to increase tourism.  This week, Costa Rica was promoted as a tourism destination by placing advertisements on cabs in London, England.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica.   As of Sept., the country has reached over 1.8 million tourists.

Last year, about 2.3 million tourists visited the country. That is one million more visitors than in 2021.

This week, Travel + Leisure, an international tourism magazine based in New York, U.S.A., has named Costa Rica the 2024 Destination of the Year.
