The Tourism Institute announced that during this month, Costa Rica would hold a significant trade mission in the Mexican cities of Monterrey and Mexico DF to market the country as a top MICE destination.

Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions are all examples of MICE tourism, in which big groups often plan their conference destination ahead of time.

According to the authorities, eight Costa Rican tourist firms attended the summit and met with over 100 potential clients to promote the country as a top conference destination.

Costa Rica has various advantages in attracting more tourists, including infrastructure, luxury hotels, tropical forests, beautiful beaches, and majestic volcanoes, said the institute in its statement.

More than 43,000 Mexican tourists arrived in the country via air as of June, according to the institute.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica. Approximately 1.5 million tourists arrived in the country via air between January and June, representing a 14% rise over the same period in 2023.

The country reported a new tourism record reached in 2023, with more than 2,4 million travelers.
