The Tourism Institute hopes to attract more French tourists by participating in the IFTM Top Resa Tourism Fair this week in Paris.

According to the institute, IFTM is one of Europe's major travel and tourist trade shows.

Advertising banners and large screens featuring images of Costa Rica's flora and fauna have been put at the Paris Montparnasse, Paris Nord, Paris Lyon, and Paris St Lazare train stations as part of the promotion effort.

The goal is to present videos on tourism areas in Costa Rica to railway station passengers. Authorities promoted the country by using railway stations since these locations offer regional, national, and international transit links, allowing advertisements to be viewed by thousands of people.

"Our country is appreciated by French tourists for its lush nature, a wide range of activities, and the authenticity of travel experiences," said Costa Rica's Minister of Tourism, William Rodríguez.

The institute's statistics show that 32% of French individuals are motivated in their travel decisions by information supplied by tourism firms. While 44% do it based on information supplied by another person's advice.

Between January and August, about 50,000 French visitors flew into the nation. This statistic represents an increase of 11% over the same time in 2022.

Every year, Reed Expositions France, a subsidiary of Reed Exhibitions, a world leader in the organization of commercial events, organizes Top Resa at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center, attracting 31 thousand professional visitors and more. of 1,600 exhibitors and brands over the three days of the event.

Participation of Costa Rica in the IFTM Top Resa Tourism Fair is one of many strategies developed by the institute to boost tourism. Recently, the institute hosted the Motivation Luxury Summit, which was held in the JW Marriott Hotel in Guanacaste Province.

Costa Rica's tourism industry is a significant contributor to its economy. As of June, over 1.3 million tourists have visited the country.

Last year, approximately 2.3 million tourists traveled to the country, which is one million more than the number of visitors in 2021.
