The Electricity Institute (ICE) has brought electricity power to twelve communities located in rural districts for the first time, marking a milestone in the country's ongoing efforts to expand access to essential utilities.
To
power 577 homes, the project required the
installation of 20 miles of wiring, 100
concrete poles, and 50 electrical
transformers.
According
to the Public Services Regulatory
Authority (Aresep), Costa Rica’s
national power grid now covers 99.5% of
the country’s
territory.
This
expansion is part of a broader initiative
to modernize electrical infrastructure in
rural and coastal areas. Recently,
the institute also
upgraded Santa Teresa and Manzanillo,
two beach towns on the Nicoya Peninsula
known for their growing tourism and
expatriate communities.
The
Electricity Institute (ICE) is a
state-owned electricity and
telecommunications provider, continues to
work on improving nationwide access to
reliable energy.
