The U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica will host two town hall meetings for American citizens living in Alajuela, offering opportunities to meet with senior embassy officials and receive assistance with voter ballots from Vote From Abroad experts.

The meetings aim to give U.S. citizens a platform to share their experiences living and traveling in Costa Rica and engage directly with embassy representatives.

In addition to the town hall discussions, embassy staff will offer on-site passport renewal services, while voter assistance experts will provide guidance on returning ballots for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections.

The meetings are scheduled as follows:

Experts will assist U.S. citizens with the following ballot-related services:

  • Electronic ballot return.
  • Ballots sent by fax.
  • Printing ballots on-site.
  • Preparing ballots for return by postal mail.
  • Completing a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot for voters who have not received their regular ballot.

U.S. citizens who wish to return their ballots in person at the embassy should follow the instructions provided with their ballots.

The envelope supplied with the ballot contains the necessary information to allow it to be sent postage-free.

The U.S. Embassy is located between Via 104 and streets 98 and 100 in the Pavas district of San José. The embassy's office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Public Information Services front office is located at the main entrance. A clear plexiglass ballot box with a combination padlock and a slot at the top is available there for ballot returns.

U.S. citizens who cannot visit the embassy in person may send their ballots through EMS to the following address:

Frente Centro Comercial del Oeste

Attention: ACS Unit

P.O. Box 920-1200
