Traffic deaths in Costa Rica are climbing, with 497 fatalities reported through November 2025, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT).
Authorities
are urging the public to help improve
road safety by reporting dangerous
driving to the 9-1-1 emergency
hotline. MOPT
is the agency responsible for
enforcing traffic laws and promoting
road safety nationwide.
