On Friday
Friday and Sunday
Classical music fans are in for a treat as the National Symphony Orchestra takes over the National Theater in San José for a special concert series. The program features Pavana Gutiérrez’s String Concerto, Neuchâtel Concerto, Suite from the ballet Panambí by Ginastera, and other timeless classics. Friday’s performance begins at 8 p.m., while Sunday’s concert starts at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or on its webpage.
British singer-songwriter Ed
Sheeran is set to perform at the
National Stadium in San José, as
part of his “Loop Tour.”
The
concert will take place.
The
performance will mark Sheeran’s
second appearance in Costa Rica
following his sold-out concert in 2015.
Costa
Rica will also serve as the final stop
on his 2026 Latin American tour, which
has generated significant excitement
among fans throughout the region.
Fans
can expect a mix of Sheeran’s
biggest hits, including
“Shape
of You,”
“Perfect,”
and
“Thinking
Out Loud,”
as
well as new songs from his latest
album,
“Play.”
Despite
the stadium setting, organizers say
the concert will offer an intimate and
energetic atmosphere.

is all about Costa Rican pride at the Melico Salazar
Theater
in San José, where the Tiquicia
Folkloric Group presents a
lively Folklore Show
celebrating the country’s
culture and identity.
Expect
traditional music, dance, and plenty
of local flavor starting at 5 p.m.
Tickets are available at the theater
box office. The National Theater
in San José, in collaboration with the
University of Costa Rica Symphony
Orchestra, presents its Requiem
concert.
The
program features Giuseppe Verdi’s
“Messa
da Requiem,”
a
monumental musical interpretation of
the Catholic funeral mass written for
four soloists, double choir, and
orchestra.
The
performance begins at 7 p.m., and
admission is free for everyone.
On Saturday and Sunday
Anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture fans won’t want to miss Haru Fest at the Antigua Aduana Event Center in San José. The festival is packed with artbook exhibits, cosplay contests, manga merchandise, and tons of activities inspired by Japanese comic culture. Doors open at 10 a.m. both days, and admission is completely free.
On Sunday
Desamparados Canton, San José, is hosting the Accountant’s Race, which hits the streets for
another year of competition and
community fun. Organized by the Municipality of
Desamparados and the Costa Rican
Accountants Association, this
longstanding tradition has brought
runners together for 39 years.
Participants can choose between a 4K
or 11K route, making it perfect for
both casual runners and hardcore
race fans. Everything starts at 6:30 a.m. at the Accountants
Association Club, and the event is completely free
and open to the public. The National Theater in San José hosts the National
Choral Festival, bringing together some of the country’s top choirs for an afternoon
packed with powerful performances. Special guests include Guatemala’s Kem B’ix Choir, adding an international
touch to the event. The show begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are

or on its webpage. The San José
Municipality Band brings folk music to the heart of
downtown with a free concert at the National Museum in San José. The performance starts at 11 a.m. and
offers a laid-back way to enjoy
traditional sounds in one of the city’s most iconic locations.
The Paraiso Canton Festival takes over Ayala Fairland in Cartago all weekend long with nonstop family fun. Visitors can check out carnival rides, live concerts, sports activities, and a wide variety of local food stands serving up festival favorites. Activities begin at noon each day, and admission is free.
Head over to the Vargas Calvo Theater for Sibelius, a comedy that dives into the lives of Sebastián and Ulysses, one a writer, the other a merchant marine, as their stories and experiences collide in unexpected ways. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the Nacional Theater website, which is sponsoring the production.
Over at Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the best way. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online.
Expresivo Theater in San José is bringing the laughs with “Therapy,” a comedy based on the original play by Argentine writer Matías Del Federico. The story follows three couples stepping into a therapy session hoping to fix their issues, but things spiral into straight-up hilarious chaos instead. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.
The Fuentes Gasca Circus is in town, and it’s bringing nonstop action all weekend at in front of Municipality of Cartago Canton in Cartago province. Expect high-flying trapeze acts, sharp juggling, live music, dancers, and clowns that actually land the jokes. There’s just enough magic in the mix to keep things moving fast and fun. Shows run daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available right at the circus box office.
