The General Cańas
Highway, Route 1, the main road
connecting San José with Juan Santamaría
International Airport in Alajuela
Province, will have scheduled nighttime
closures throughout this week, the
National Power and Light Company, known
as CNFL, announced.
The highway
connects the provinces of San José and
Alajuela and is part of the
Inter-American Highway, which crosses
Costa Rica.
Authorities said the partial closures will begin Monday and continue through the rest of the week as crews install patriotic decorations ahead of September’s Independence celebrations.
In related developments,
the airport is preparing to become
home to Central America’s first
on-airport hotel.
The resort will be built adjacent to
the airport terminal and connected to
it by an enclosed pedestrian bridge
that will provide direct access from
the building’s third floor.
CNFL
primarily provides electricity
services in the Greater Metropolitan
Area, known as GAM, which spans the
Central Valley and covers parts of the
provinces of San José, Alajuela,
Heredia and Cartago.
