The
Australian soft rock band Air Supply
will perform in Costa Rica as part of its “50th
Anniversary Celebration World Tour.”
Tickets for the
concert range from $85 to $145 and
are available through the Smarticket
website. The
upcoming performance will mark the band’s
fifth concert in Costa Rica since
first performing in the
“pura
vida”
country
in the late 1980s. Air
Supply was founded in Melbourne,
Australia, in 1975 by English-born
Graham Russell (vocals and guitar) and
Australian Russell Hitchcock (vocals). The
group achieved worldwide success with
a string of hits, including eight
songs that reached the top five of the
U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Among them
were
“Lost
in Love”
(1979);
“All
Out of Love”
and
“Every
Woman in the World”
(both
1980);
“The
One That You Love”
and
“Here
I Am”
(both
1981);
“Sweet
Dreams”
and
“Even
the Nights Are Better”
(both
1982); and
“Making
Love Out of Nothing at All”
(1983).
In
2013, the Australian Recording
Industry Association (ARIA) inducted
Air Supply into its Hall of Fame. The
concert is one of several performances
by international artists scheduled in
Costa Rica this year. Christina Aguilera is
set to headline the annual Picnic
Festival on March 21 at the
Pedregal Events Center in Heredia
province.
